Rebuilding Identity After a Major Plot Twist

“ Let’s begin again, with the wisdom gleaned from a thousand terrible choices, the privilege of a second chance, and the feralness that only a midlife woman can muster”

They say life is a circus… But what do you do when the show stops?

A spinal cord injury forced an immediate halt to my high flying life, but it wasn’t an ending, it was a catalyst. It was the physical plot twist that forced me to realise I had spent decades performing for approval, chasing perfection and building an identity on other peoples judgement.

Happiness had been outsourced.

How many of us have reached our 40’s , hit a crossroads, looked around and realised we’ve been building our identities on other peoples judgement, chasing impossible standards, and trying to fit into templates that we did not design?

This is the exact moment it stops.

No more allowing random rules to put us in neat little boxes. Rules that squish us, silence us and shrink us into shapes we were never meant to fit. Shapes that are too small to hold us and too prescriptive to let us shine.

This second act is not fully realised and there is no grand plan. Its about starting right in the messy middle, questioning absolutes, letting go of other peoples expectations and enjoying the ride.

Life might not look how you imagined it would, but that doesn’t mean it’s not taking you somewhere beautiful.

Consider this your real-time playbook to firing the inner critic and the social script, reframing the chaos, and reclaiming absolute power over how you feel when life rewrites your story. Because when you change your perspective, you change your world.

It’s time to run our own show. Grab your top hat, let’s find out who we were before the world told us who to be.
